Roseau Wins 8AA Boys Golf Title, Tonsfeldt and Belka Among State Qualifiers

The Roseau Rams won the Section 8AA Boys Golf Championship on Tuesday at Bemidji Town and Country Club, beating Detroit Lakes in a tie breaker.  Each team recorded two-day scores of 636 with their top four golfers.  The two teams remained tied after checking the scores of their fifth golfers, but the Rams had the better score from their sixth golfer to take the title.

Medalist honors went to Lukas Justesen of the Lakers, who qualified for the State Individual Tournament with a score of 145.  Jason Shaugabay of Warroad claimed runner-up honors with a 147.  Marcus Belka of Perham and Andres Aho of United North Central tied for third with rounds of 149 and fifth place went to Adam Tonsfeldt of Barnesville with a 151.

Barnesville was third in the team competition with a score of 653, followed by Warroad 656, Hawley 662 and Fergus Falls 669.

Fergus Falls was led by Charlie Fuder and Ryan Nelson with scores of 160 and 163, respectively.  Chance Fazio and Riley McGovern recorded rounds of 175, Gavin Goepferd turned in a 177 and Adam Kennedy finished at 181.
