Jaden Norby threw a shutout to lead the Ashby Arrows past Upsala Swanville Area 1-0 on Tuesday in the Section 6A baseball playoffs.  The Arrows followed that win with an 8-2 victory over Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, setting up an elimination game on Thursday at 2:30pm in New York Mills against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg.

The pitching was strong on both sides in game one as Norby struck out 13, while Levi Lampert sat down eight for the Patriots.

Norby took the win for Ashby Arrows. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing zero runs on two hits and striking out 13.

Lampert took the loss for Upsala. The pitcher went six and a third innings, allowing one run on two hits, striking out eight and walking one.

Carson Spangler and Norby each collected one hit to lead Ashby Arrows.

Jaden Norby hit a solo homer in the first inning of game two, but BBE tied the game in the bottom of the first.  Ashby pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning when Carter Spangler singled in one run and Hunter Norby added an RBI single.

Hunter Norby led the Ashby Arrows to victory on the mound. The right hander allowed seven hits and two runs over six and a third innings, striking out four.  Carson Spangler threw two-thirds of an inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Jaden Norby hit his second homer of the day in the fifth inning.  Ashby had 11 hits in the game.

“Great effort by our guys today,” exclaimed Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson.  “Jaden threw extremely well in game one and the same for Hunter in game two!”
