The top-seeded Perham baseball team recorded a 10-0 victory over Roseau in the Section 8AA baseball playoffs on Tuesday in Deer Creek. Perham scored 3 runs in each of the first two innings, added a run in the fourth and tacked on 3 more in the fifth. Winning pitcher Chas Melvin allowed only one hit in five innings, while striking out 11 batters and walking two.
Melvin also had 3 hits in 3 at bats, including a double, driving in two runs and scoring four. Ben Shumansky went 4-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored. Andrew Smith was 3-for-4 with a double, triple and home run, driving in two runs and scoring 3 times. Rian Solberg had 3 RBI on a pair of hits, including a double.
Perham will play for the Section title on Thursday against a yet to be determined opponent.
