Alexandria won both the boys' and girl's team championships at the Central Lakes Conference Cross Country Meet on Thursday at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School. Nine teams participated in the meet.
“We had 6 conference honors on the girls’ side tonight,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Niki Welde. “Ainsley Hansen won the Girls High Jump with a jump of 5-3. Ainsley had no misses until after she had won the event. Svea Smestad placed second in the Shot with a throw of 36-3.75 that she completed in prelims. Both earned All-Conference honors for their performances. Honorable mention All-Conference went to Emily Nuss in 3 events. She placed 4th in the Mile and the 300 Hurdles and 6th in the Triple Jump. Svea Smestad placed 6th in the Discus.”
For the boys', Alexander Jensen won both the shot put and the discus, while Jordan Lee tied for third in the pole vault. Both earned All-Conference honors.
We move towards the Section Day One Meet next Wednesday in Sartell. Followed by the Day 2 in Fergus Falls on Saturday the 12th.
