Pulju Drives in 6 to Lead Perham Past Breckenridge

Perham put 11 runs on the board in the first inning and rode a six RBI performance by Logan Pulju to an 18-2 victory over Breckenridge in the Section 8AA baseball playoffs on Thursday afternoon in Perham.  The Yellowjackets collected 17 hits in the game and played flawlessly in the field.

Pulju’s 3-for-3 day was highlighted by a first inning grand slam home run.  He scored twice and drew a walk in the contest.  Chas Melvin (3-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 4R, BB), Ben Shumansky (3-4, 3 RBI, 2R), Andrew Smith (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 2R, BB) and Austin Aanenson (2-4, RBI, 2R) all had multiple hit games for the Yellowjackets.  Jacob McAllister added a double in two at bats, driving in a run and scoring twice.  Rian Solberg went 1-for-3 at the plate with a two-base hit, an RBI and 3 runs scored.

Finn Diggins pitched two hitless innings, striking out five batters to earn the win.  Gage Germolus (3IP, 4H, 2ER, 3K, 2BB) finished up on the mound for the home team.

Jayce Werner drove in both Breckenridge runs with a double in the third inning.  Reece Peterson, Griffen Bosse and Conner Tidwell each had a single for the Cowboys, with Tidwell and Colin Roberts scoring the runs.
