Top Seeded Yellowjackets Explode for 22 Runs in First Round Win Over Frazee

The top seeded team in the South half of Section 8AA baseball, the Perham Yellowjackets, opened the post season with a 22-0 whitewashing of the Frazee Hornets.  Perham collected 19 hits in the game and held the Hornets to just a single by Scott Seim

 

Perham jumped out to a 9-0 lead after one inning and tacked on eight more in the second before adding two in the third and 3 in the fourth.

Four different Yellowjackets had three hits each.  Chas Melvin (3-5, 2 2B, 4R), Andrew Smith (3-4, 3 RBI, 3R), Rian Solberg (3-3, 2B, 3 RBI, 3R) and Gage Germolus (3-3, 3 RBI, 2R) were the leading hitters.  Jacob McAllister went 2-for3 with a triple, 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored, Logan Pulju was 1-for-3 with a double, 2 runs batted in and a run scored, and Austin Aanenson was 1-for-2 with one RBI and 2 runs scored.

Starting pitcher Caden Schossow pitched two hitless innings, striking out two batters to get the win.  Austin Aanenson (2K), Austin Schmelz (3K) and Ashton Detloff (2K) each worked an inning for Perham.

Perham will advance to play the winner of the Pelican Rapids vs Breckenridge game at 2:30pm Thursday in Deer Creek.
