The Fergus Falls boys’ track and field team hosted a home dual track meet versus St. Cloud Apollo on Thursday. “This was our 5th and final regular season meet we hosted,” commented Head Coach Derek Meyer of the Otters. “It has been a group effort to have all of these meets at home, in a usual season we would only host 2 maybe 3 meets. We could not have pulled this off without the tremendous help of the parents of athletes, family and community members that countlessly gave back to our program, thank you to all of them!”
“The boys had a nice rounding of performances all over today,” reported Meyer. “We scored well as a team and came out beating Apollo with a score of 75 to 69 points. Along with the overall team performance, some athletes had some strong individual performances as well.
Alex Jensen continues to pile up wins in both the shot put and discus. He has been very consistent all season and has positioned himself in great form coming into the championship part of our season. Jordan Lee was 1st in both the 100 meter dash and 110 meter hurdles and 2nd in the pole vault. Landon Thacker won the boys pole vault and made a personal best jump.
Owen Spain had a nice performance in the 400m dash taking 1st place and dropping nearly 2 seconds off his time.”
The Otters will compete at the Central Lakes Conference championship meet next Thursday in Sartell where they will compete against 9 other teams in the largest meet of the season.
