Playing high school golf gives players many opportunities to play a variety of golf courses.  Eleven girls’ golf teams were given a very special opportunity to play The Classic at Madden's Resort near Brainerd on Wednesday.  The Alexandria Girls Golf Team made the most of this opportunity with a first place team finish.  The Cardinals defeated the host team, Brainerd, by 17 shots.  Hannah Boraas and Cora Larson put together another one-two finish with scores of 71 and 77, respectively.

The winning score for the Cardinals was 317.  Brainerd followed at 334, then Detroit Lakes 352, Pequot Lakes 362, Buffalo 377, Bemidji 397, Sartell 398, Moorhead 405, Pierz 418, Willmar 426 and Monticello 440.

Other scores for the Cardinals included an 83 by Aisling O’Connor, good for eighth place, an 86 for Lauren Rebrovich, tying her for tenth place, a 107 for Isabella Hagen and a 112 for Rachel Bowen.

“As a team, we tied our season high for the third time with 10 birdies on the day,” reported Head Coach Tim Zupfer of Alexandria.  “We will get in a good week of practice and then play in the Section 8AAA tournament in Park Rapids on June 3 and 4.”
