The Alexandria girls’ golf team won the Central Lakes Conference championship, shooting a 335 on Monday at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell, giving them a two-round total of 649.  Brainerd was second, recording a 344 Monday and finishing with a 673.  Sartell came in third in the Monday round with a 374.  Fergus Falls ended up in fourth place with a 379 and Willmar was fifth with a score of 380.  Bemidji 397, St. Cloud 411 and Rocori 456 rounded out the team scoring for round two.

“Highlights of the day for our team had to be placing four players on the All-Conference team, and having Isabella Hagen (92) and Rachel Bowen (86) shoot personal best rounds,” commented Alexandria Head Coach Timothy Zupfer.  “Hannah Boraas, Cora Larson, Lauren Rebrovich, and Aisling O’Connor each placed in the top 10 conference scoring averages on their way to All-Conference honors.”

“It was a windy day on a links style course so the team struggled a bit,” commented Fergus Falls Assistant Coach Amber Hovland.  “We were happy to finish up conference play and look forward to preparing for the sub-section meet next week in Bemidji.  Ella Mayer had a solid score today and finished with an impressive birdie on her last hole to help the team beat Willmar by one stroke.”

The Otters were led by Annika Jyrkas who finished eleventh in the individual competition with a score of 89.  Ella Mayer had a 91, Annie Mayer a 98, Lexi Metcalf a 101, Ellia Soydara a 101 and Thea Eklund a 105.
