Otter Girls Finish Third at Home Golf Invitational

Detroit Lakes won the Fergus Falls Girls Golf Invitational on Friday at Pebble Lake Golf Course, recording a winning score of 308.  Pequot Lakes was second with a 346 and the host Otters placed third with a 348.  Staples-Motley finished fourth with a 360, followed by Moorhead at 366, Crookston at 369 and Roseau at 394.

McKenna Mallow of Detroit Lakes earned medalist honors with a 74, one stroke ahead of her teammate Hanna Knoop with a 75.  Annika Jyrkas of the Otters took third with a 77, followed by Detroit Lakes golfers Laura Syltie (78) and Evan Westrum (81).  Morgan Krieger and Maddie Pederson of Pequot Lakes also registered scores of 81.

Other Fergus Falls scores included an 87 from Ellia Soydara, a 91 from Annie Mayer, a 93 from Lexi Metcalf, a 97 from Ella Mayer and a 99 from Thea Eklund.

“The girls posted a solid number today and that was great playing on a day where the wind was blowing,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “Annika fired a career low 77 today to lead us and to take third, individually.  We had nice balance today with Ellia, Annie and Lexi.”
