The Ottertail Central Bulldogs defeated Pelican Rapids 1-0 on Thursday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Kayne Cameron stranded a lead-off double in the 7th by inducing a groundout to Cian Buehler to finish off the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Ottertail Central Bulldogs pitchers struck out two, while Carson McNeal sat down seven for the Vikings, allowing four hits and one walk in his six innings on the mound.  McNeal also had a single in the first inning.  Brock Sjolie led Pelican Rapids with two hits in three at bats.  The Vikings played errorless ball behind McNeal.

Lane Dilly was the winning pitcher for the Bulldogs. The pitcher lasted six innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out one.  Cameron threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen, recording the last three outs to earn a save.  “I find myself calling Dilly and Cameron  ‘Bulldogs’ all the time,” said OTC Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson, “they are great competitors and have a knack of putting themselves and team into winning positions.”

Ottertail Central scored in the bottom half of the 4th inning with the bases loaded, 2outs, and 2 strikes on the batter. Jayden Harig, with a heads up base running move from 3rd base, sprinted hard off the base before the pitcher started his windup to induce a balk. Hendrickson mentioned Jayden, “Jayden is a baseball dude, he gets it. He is very coachable and made a heads up base running play to give us our only and the game winning run. It was our pitching a defense that gave us a chance to win at the end, I am very proud of the teams overall performance.”

Wyatt Severson went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ottertail Central offensively.
