The Brandon-Evansville baseball team collected 13 hits on their way to a 9-6 win over Barnesville on Monday.  Winning pitcher Tyler Bitzan (5IP, 0R, 1H, 8K, 0BB) improved his record to 6-1.

B-E took an early first inning lead when Dezmond White singled, scoring Kyle Schaffran.  The Chargers added on in the fourth when Riley Perleberg delivered an RBI single and Brady Perleberg followed with a two-run double, staking the Chargers to a 4-0 lead.  Brandon-Evansville tacked on 3 more in the top of the sixth, highlighted by Bitzan’s two-run homer, as they increased their lead to 7-0.  Barnesville responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth, but B-E got the runs back in the top of the seventh with help from Jayden Hoidahl, Kian Gackle and Riley Perleberg.  Barnesville completed the scoring in their half of the seventh by rallying for four runs on four hits, including doubles by Jack Olson and Ian Bolgrean.

“We got a great pitching performance from Tyler today as he only gave up one hit, struck out eight and didn’t walk a batter in his five innings of work,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “His defense played errorless ball behind him and it allowed us to put together some good offensive innings.”

The Chargers were led by Brady Perleberg (3-5, 2B, 2 RBI), Hoidahl (2-4, 2R, SB), Riley Perleberg (2-2, 2BB, RBI) and Bitzan (1-4, HR, 2 RBI).

B-E (11-5) will travel to play St. John’s Prep on Thursday for a non-conference matchup.
