The Browerville/Eagle Valley softball team hosted Brandon-Evansville on Thursday with the Tigers posting a 5-1 win over the Chargers.  The home team scored twice in the bottom of the first and B-E cut the lead to 2-1 with a run in the top of the fifth.  The Tigers put the game away with 3 in the bottom of the sixth.  Each team had 6 hits in the game.

Leaders at the plate for the Chargers were Sydney Schaefer (3-4), Taylin Kramer (2-3, RBI) and Bailey Schaefer (1-3).  Mikenna Pattrin (6IP, 6H, 5R 1ER, 1BB, 1K) took the loss.

“We came into tonight’s game knowing Browerville is a talented, disciplined team and we had to be ready to battle,” reported Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kasi Sieling.  “We got behind early after a triple by their second batter who was able to score on a close play at the plate two batters later.  After that first inning our defense really settled in and made some great plays.  We saw some very heads up, smart defensive plays from our fielders that I am very proud of and hope we can continue to execute.  Taylin was able to drive in Kaytlyn Pattrin on a solid line drive up the middle in the top of the fifth and we were able to work out of a bases loaded situation without allowing a run in the bottom of the fifth.  We hit the ball hard tonight and got runners on base, but just weren’t able to string enough hits together and get the timely hit to bring in more runs.  This was a tough game that we will learn from and hopefully gain some confidence from after competing well with one of the best teams in Class A.”

The Chargers will host Hancock in a double header on Friday.
