The M State Men’s golf team fired a 303 on Thursday, giving them a two-day total of 614 for the Region XIII Championship.  The Spartans will advance to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament in Chautauqua Golf Club in Chautauqua, New York June 8-11.  Wyatt Blomseth shot a final round 70 (2 under par) to win medalist honors with a two day total of 149.  Blomseth had a bogey-free round and reached 15-of-18 greens in regulation.

“Wyatt played a near flawless round today and made no bogies,” reported M State Head Coach Jason Retzlaff.  “He missed very few shots and if he did, his putter was on fire so it didn’t matter.  It was one of the most well played rounds we have had in our program.”

M State’s Grant Inniger was runner-up with a 22 day score of 153 (77-76) and Hunter Burnside was third with a 155 (79-76).

“I was so pleased with the way we played and competed today,” said Coach Retzlaff.  “The guys earned it with an outstanding round of 303 and should have a lot of confidence going into the National Tournament.  This is a high quality group of young men on and off the golf course and I am so happy they will have the opportunity to compete in New York for a National Championship next month.”

This is the 10th consecutive year the Spartans have qualified for the National Tournament.  M State has finished Nationally in the top 5 every year, including winning the title in 2012.
