The Brandon-Evansville softball team defeated Ortonville twice on Monday in Brandon, winning 18-2 in four innings in game one and taking game two, 9-2.

In the first game, B-E banged out 13 hits, scoring four runs in each of the first three innings and closing out the game by the fifteen-run rule by scoring six in the fourth.  Offensive leaders were Sydney Schaefer (3-4, 2B, 4R), Mikenna Pattrin (3-4, 3B, 4 RBI, 2R), Taylin Kramer (2-3, 3 RBI, 3R), Olivia Otto (2-3, 3B, R), Morgan Bitzan (1-3, 2B, RBI, 2R), Kiley Lund (1-4, 3 RBI, R) and Kylee Dingwall (1-2, 2 RBI, 3R).

“We came out strong in the first game and got the bats going early to give us a lead we could hold throughout the night,” commented Head Coach Kasi Sieling of the Chargers.  “Offensively, we got contributions from everyone in our lineup, which is always great to see.  Taylin (4IP, 3H, 2ER, 3BB, 3K) threw another solid game and the defense did a nice job of making the plays to back her up.”

Mikenna Pattrin (7IPm 5H, 2R, 1ER, 1BB, 5K) was the winning pitcher in the second game.  She also knocked in 3 runs, boing 1-for-3 at the plate.  Other offensive leaders were Sophie Koep (3-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Dingwall (1-2, 2R) and Kramer (1-4, 2R).

“The girls came out strong in the first inning of the second game to carry the momentum from the opener and set the tone for the nightcap,” shared Coach Sieling.  “We did a nice job of hitting the ball hard and being aggressive on the bases to take advantage of everything we got.  Our defense did a nice job of making plays and limiting their base runners.  All of our players did a nice job of stepping up tonight with a couple of players missing and filling into positions they don’t normally play.  These were two nice team wins.”
