Arrows and Comets Split Softball Double Header

Ashby and Hillcrest split a conference softball double header on Friday with Ashby taking the first game, 13-2, and Hillcrest winning game two, 9-8.

Ashby had everything working in the opener as Madison Bestul went five innings, allowing two runs on five hits, striking out five and walking one.  Ashby tallied twelve hits in the game with Haleigh Brendmoen, Anna Thormodson, Ivy Aufdenkamp and Ryleigh Brendmoen each collection two hits in the contest.  The Arrows broke the game open with six runs in the fourth inning and they played errorless ball in the field.

In game two Hillcrest scored in the bottom of the sixth inning to break an 8-8 tie.  After the Arrows scored six runs in the top of the third, Hillcrest answered with six of their own.  Bestul, Emily Johnson and Aufdenkamp each drove in runs in the inning.  The Comets got run producing hits from Madison Foss, Hailee May and Lydia Lee.  Ashby had 16 hits in the game and Hillcrest had 11.
