The Hillcrest Comets baseball team traveled to Prinsburg on Saturday to Central Minnesota Christian.  CMC got the win 16-9.

Micah Bermel pitched a solid 5 innings for the Comets giving up 6 runs and left with a 9-6 lead.

“Micah pitched great and put us in a position to win,” said Hillcrest Head Coach Dave Weinrich.  “We just struggled to throw strikes and some costly errors cost us down the stretch.

Super proud of our effort and some really good performances for the comets. Wilson McArton played his best game of the season in Center field making several great plays.  We had some kids get their 1st hits of the season which was also very encouraging.”

The Comets were led by Evan Lingren, Zayne Weinrich, Micah Bermel, Micah Demmers and Leo Nordic with two hits each.

“Evan and Zayne have led us in hitting all year,” commented Coach Weinrich. “Micah Bermel and Micah Demmers have really started to come on for us the last few games which is great to see.”

Sam Reece and David Wangeboji got their 1st hits of the season for the Comets.  “We just hope to continue to improve in all aspects and it’s been fun to watch the progression,” added Weinrich.

The Comets will play Hancock in a doubleheader on Monday.
