Ashby and Ortonville Split Softball Double Header

Ashby and Ortonville split a softball double header on Thursday with the Trojans winning the first game, 11-8 and the Arrows winning game two, 3-1.

Ashby fell behind early in game one and couldn’t come back.  The Arrows collected 13 hits and Ortonville had 22 hits.  Livy Johnson and Anissa Heinrich had three hits each to lead the Arrows.  Madison Bestul took the loss, striking out seven and walking none.

Kate Jensen delivered a two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning of game two, breaking a 1-1 tie and carrying the Arrows to victory.  Bestul struck out six for Ashby and Olivia Nelson recorded three strikeouts for Ortonville.  Carly Olson drove in the Ortonville run and Heinrich went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Arrows, knocking in a run with a first inning double.

Ashby will host Hillcrest in a Pheasant Conference double header on Friday.
