The Ashby baseball team won a pair of home games against West Central Area on Thursday, defeating the Knights by scores of 8-5 and 8-2.

WCA took an early lead in the second inning of game one when an error led to the first run of the game.  Ashby took the lead for good with five runs in the third inning.  Evan Paulson and Mattson Hoff each drove in two runs with a single and Carson Spangler added an RBI single.  Torin Olson (3.1IP, 3R, 3H, 4K) got the win for Ashby.  Spangler threw three and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.  He recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for the Arrows.

In the second game Jaden Norby (6IP, 5H, 2R, 12K) earned the win on the mound and Spangler finished up with one inning of relief.   The Arrows scored four times in the seventh inning.  Olson went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Ashby and Carter Spangler delivered a run-scoring triple.

Colton Lindquist (6.2IP, 5H, 7R, 6K) took the loss for the Knights.

“Key hits in key situations were big for us today,” said Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson.  “Very proud of our effort today and especially the work in relief by Carson Spangler.”
