Carter Thielke launched his first career home run and David Horgen earned his first career victory as the Fergus Falls baseball team split a Tuesday double header with St. Cloud Tech.  The Tigers took the first game 12-6 and the Otters came from behind to post a 10-6 win in game two, scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to secure the victory.

Fergus Falls led the first game 5-2, however, Tech produced back-to-back four run innings in the fourth and fifth to take control of the game.  Thielke went 3-for-4 at the plate with a single, a triple and his first career homer, driving in four of the Otters six runs.  Aric Heacox had a pair of doubles.  Ian Stumbo threw three solid innings, allowing 3 hits, walking two batters and striking out two.

“Control issues caused us some problems in this game,” noted Fergus Falls Head Coach Kevin Pearson.  “Not just the number of walks and hit batters, but the fact that we were behind in the count throughout the game.”

Thielke kept his hot bat going with a 2-for-4 game, including his second triple of the day.  Stumbo and Abel Aho each drove in three runs in the game, while Stumbo and Andrew Johnson each had two hits.  Aho (2.1IP, 2H, 5BB, 5K, 4R) started on the mound and was relieved by Heacox (1.1IP, 2H, 3K, 2R) before giving way to Horgen (2.1IP, 1H, 1BB, 3K, 0R).  Thielke fanned two batters in his one inning of work to close out the win.

Fergus Falls will travel to Little Falls on Friday to face the Flyers at noon and will then play Detroit Lakes at 2:30pm.
