The Ashby baseball team hosted Brandon-Evansville in a Tuesday double header and the Arrows wound up sweeping the Chargers by scores of 2-1 and 14-4.

In game one, the teams were tied at 1-1 with the Arrows batting in the bottom of the fifth when they were able to score on an error.  In the first inning, Hunter Norby knocked in the other Ashby run with a single.  Brandon-Evansville knotted the score in the top of the third on an RBI single by Kyle Schaffran.  Schaffran led B-E at the plate, going 2-for-3.  Hunter Norby (6IP, 4H, R, 8K) was the winning pitcher and Carter Spangler threw one inning of scoreless relief.  The loss went to Dezmond White (6IP, 2R, 3H, 9K).

Ashby collected 18 hits in the second game with Jaden Norby and Brodie Ecker each managing three hits.  The Arrows got home runs from Norby, Torin Olson and Mattson Hoff. Jaden Norby (2IP, 3K, BB, H, R) and Spangler (5IP, 3R) combined for the win on the mound.  Tyler Bitzan (2.2IP, 6H, 6R, K, BB) took the loss and was the leading hitter for the Chargers, going 2-for-3 at the plate.

“Two huge wins today against a very solid Brandon-Evansville team,” commented Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson.  “We had two big defensive breakdowns that were backed up beautifully by Miles Hoff in the first game to save runs and our bats finally woke up in the second game.  I’m very proud of the boys’ effort tonight.”
