The Fergus Falls girls’ golf team fired a team score of 363 to take second place at the Park Rapids Invitational on Monday.  Detroit Lakes won the team title with a score of 344.  Park Rapids was third with a 385, followed by Moorhead at 386, Roseau at 406, Crookston at 425 and East Grand Forks at 430.

Medalist honors went to Anna Eckman of Park Rapids with an 80 on her home course.  Hanna Knoop of DL and Ana Jyrkas of Fergus Falls were next with rounds of 81.  McKenna Mallow (82) and McKenna Burhans (90) of Detroit Lakes were fourth and fifth, respectively.

Other Otter scores included a 93 for Lexi Metcalf, placing ninth, a 94 for Annie Mayer, finishing eleventh and a 95 for Ellia Soydara, winding up in 12th place.  Thea Eklund shot a 106 and Ella Mayer a 129 to round out the Fergus Falls scoring.

“Ana Jyrkas continued her consistent play today posting an 81 and taking 2nd place one stroke behind the medalist,” reported Fergus Falls Head Coach Ben Jurgens.  “Lexi Metcalf had her best Varsity meet of her young career shooting a 93 and giving us a much needed score.  As a team we took second today and that's great.  In order to be a threat for the section we are going to need 3 or 4 scores in the 80's so we still have work to do but that's what the regular season is for, to grow as a player and get better throughout the season.”

Thursday at 4:00pm the Otters will host their home Central Lakes Conference meet at Pebble Lake Golf Course.
