Arrows Blank Comets Twice on Friday

The Ashby Arrows defeated Hillcrest 11-0 and 20-0 in a Pheasant Conference double header on Friday.

Two pitchers combined to throw a shutout in game one. Carson Spangler was the winning pitcher, allowing three hits over five innings, striking out eight and walking zero.

Ashby put up five runs in the third inning.  Torin Olson, Hunter Norby, Evan Paulson, and Mattson Hoff each had RBIs in the big inning.  Jaden Norby went deep for the Arrows in the second inning.

The Arrows collected 14 hits.  Olson, Norby, and Norby each collected two hits to lead them.  Ashby didn't commit a single error in the field.

Ashby secured the game two victory with 12 runs in the fourth inning. Evan Paulson, Brodie Ecker, Carson Spangler, Carter Spangler, Torin Olson, and Jaden Norby all drove in runs in the inning.  Norby had earlier driven in two runs with a first inning triple.

Paulson was the winning pitcher for Ashby. He surrendered zero runs on two hits over three innings, striking out five and walking one.  Olson and Spangler entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Ashby racked up 15 hits.  Spangler, Hunter Norby, Miles Hoff, Paulson, and Olson each collected multiple hits for Ashby Arrows.  Carter Spangler led the way with three hits in four at bats.

“Our bats came alive today and we had some great outings from guys that don’t see a lot of time on the mound,” commented Ashby Head Coach Jared Larson. “We also got a lot of guys into the games and it was a great experience for them!”
