The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres remained undefeated on the season with a pair of Tuesday wins over Fergus Falls.  The Sabres beat the Otters 8-2 in the opening game of their double header at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park, and then walked-off the Otters as the home team, winning in 8 innings, 4-3, in the nightcap.

Sartell jumped off to a 3-1 lead after the first inning in game one and added four runs in the fourth and one more in the fifth to build an 8-1 advantage.  Abel Aho had a pair of hits and scored both runs for the Otters.  Jonah Sorum (3IP, 1R, 3K) was solid in relief.

Kaden Conklin turned in a quality start in game two, pitching five innings, allowing 4 hits, 3 runs, 1 earned run and striking out one batter.  Ian Stumbo pitched 2 1/3 innings, struck out 1, walked 3 and allowed 3 hits and one run.

Aho drove in the first run in the top of the first with a base hit and gave the Otters a 2-1 lead in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly.  Three Fergus Falls errors led to two unearned runs for the Sabres in the bottom of the fifth as they took a 3-2 lead.  An RBI double by Andrew Johnson in the top of the sixth tied the game, however, a bases loaded hit in the bottom of the eighth gave Sartell-St. Stephen the 4-3 win.  Aric Heacox had a pair of hits and a run batted in for the Otters.

"I'm proud of their effort tonight," commented Head Coach Kevin Pearson.  "We need to clean up some of our innings and that might change the outcome in some of the games."

Fergus Falls will host Willmar in a single game at 5:00pm Thursday.
