Tuesday turned out to be a long day for the Ottertail Central baseball team as they suffered a 14-4 defeat at the hands of the Wadena-Deer Creek Wolverines.

The Bulldogs got off to a good start as Wyatt Severson delivered a run scoring single to plate Gavon Pausch, however, a five-run second inning by the Wolverines put them in control.  Severson led OTC with 2 hits in 3 at bats.  Owen Buehler took the loss, surrendering nine runs, 6 of which were earned, on seven hits over four innings.

“Comes down to us not making some plays defensively and making it harder on ourselves,” commented OTC Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson.  “Owen threw pretty well.  We need to be more confident in ourselves, know we can and will make plays, know that we can and will hit runs in.  We have a team of players, we just need to put it all together.”

Tony Kreklau (5IP, 4R, 5H, 9K) was the winning pitcher for WDC.  Jake Dykhoff went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead the Wolverines who had 11 hits in the game.  Kreklau and Zach Shaw also had multiple hit games.

The Bulldogs will play a double header in New York Mills on Thursday and then have a Friday night contest at Evansville on Friday.
