Brandon-Evansville was dominant in their double header against Hillcrest on Friday at American Legion Field at DeLagoon Park in Fergus Falls as they outscored the Comets 33-1 and outhit them 23-4, winning game one 17-0 and taking game two 16-1.

Brady Perleberg was dominant on the mound in the opener as he tossed a no-hitter, striking out six batters and walking two in a game shortened to five innings due to the 10-run rule.  Tyler Bitzan (2-3, 2 3B, 4 RBI, 3R) led Brandon-Evansville to victory by driving in four runs.  Perleberg (2-4, 3B, RBI, 2R), Dezmond White (2-3, 2 RBI, 2R), Riley Perleberg (2-2, 4 RBI), Titus Fuller (1-2. 2B, 2 RBI, 2R), Kian Gackle (1-2, 2B, 3 RBI, 2R) and Brian Lauthen (1-2, 2R) all had good days at the plate for the Chargers.

“Offensively, we had a lot of guys step up and deliver some big hits,” said B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “Everyone got into the batters’ box looking to put the ball in play and we were able to capitalize on some extra opportunities.  The defense played very well considering the cold conditions and Brady looked very comfortable in his first start on the mound this season.”

Kyle Schaffran (4IP, 1R, 3H, 8K, 1BB) was the winning pitcher in game two, with Riley Perleberg pitching one inning, striking out one batter and allowing one hit.  Hitting leaders were Hunter Koep (3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2R), Gackle (2-3, 2R, 2 RBI) and Brady Perleberg (2-4, RBI, 2R).

“The guys continued to put good swings on the ball in the second game and both Kyle and Riley did a great job of throwing strikes in their varsity debuts on the mound,” noted Coach Perleberg.  “We are thankful a lot of different faces saw playing time today which is extremely valuable in the early parts of the season.  We have no used five different pitchers in the first five games of the season, wo we are excited to know we can rely on several different arms as the season rolls along.”

Brandon-Evansville is now 4-1 on the season.  They will travel to Browerville on Monday for a non-conference game against the Tigers.

No Hillcrest stats were reported.
