Brandon-Evansville pitcher Mikenna Pattrin (4IP, 1H, 6K, 2BB, 1R, 0ER) allowed just one hit on Friday afternoon and had plenty of offensive support as the Chargers banged out 14 hits and took advantage of 8 Rothsay errors on the way to a 16-1 victory over the Tigers.

“It felt great to play on our home field again and to come out strong from the beginning of the game,” stated B-E Head Coach Kasi Sieling. “Overall, we played a solid defensive game to back up Mikenna in the circle.  Sydney Schaefer and Korrie Randt got things going in the first inning by doing their jobs and Bailey Schaefer kept things going with her first home run of the season.  We were able to add three more runs in the second inning and then open things up with a nine run third inning.  The inning was a string of singles and girls hitting the ball hard to put pressure on the defense and take advantage of their mistakes.”

The Chargers were led at the plate by Bailey Schaeafer (4-4, HR, 2 RBI, 2R), Sydney Schaefer (3-4, 4R, RBI), Pattrin (2-4, 3B, 2 RBI, R), Olivia Otto (1-2, 2R, RBI), Kaytlyn Pattrin (1-3, 2R), Kylee Dingwall (1-2, 2R), Kendra Klimek (1-2, R) and Sophie Koep (1-1).

“It’s always nice to win the home opener and now we’ll turn our focus to cleaning things up defensively and getting ready for more Pheasant Conference play next week,” concluded Coach Sieling.
