The Ottertail Central Bulldogs snatched the lead late in the game in a 7-5 victory over Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale on Friday afternoon in Henning.  The game was tied at 5-5 with OTC batting in the bottom of the sixth when Hunter Haugen doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring Kayne Cameron who earlier had a two-batter off the left field fence.

The Bulldogs earned the victory despite allowing Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale to score three runs in the sixth inning.  Aden Rach and Kole Weishalla knocked in runs in the inning.  Rach and Cameron Mitchell each had two hits for the visitors.

Lefty Tyson Misegades (1.2IP, 0H, 0R, 4K) was the winning pitcher for OTC, coming on in relief of Kayne Cameron (5.1IP, 5R, 5H, 8K).

“Our pitching was great again tonight,” said Head Coach Ryan Hendrickson of the Bulldogs. “We gave up zero earned runs on five hits and struck out 12 batters.  Both Kayne and Tyson remained calm and showed great leadership through some adversity.”

OTC tallied eleven hits in the game with Lane Dilly, Cian Buehler, Joey Kupfer and Hunter Haugen each collected two hits, and Gavon Pausch took three walks.

“It was great to see our bats come alive tonight,” said Hendrickson.
