Carter Thielke (5IP, 2H, 8K, 3BB) fired a complete game shutout on Friday at Dick Putz Field in St. Cloud as the Fergus Falls Otters registered an 11-0 victory over St. Cloud Apollo for their first win of the season.

Fergus Falls led 1-0 heading to the fourth inning, added four runs in the fourth and expanded their lead with a six-run fifth to end the game by the ten-run rule.

“Carter pitches to contact and relies a lot on the defense behind him,” noted Fergus Falls Coach Kevin Pearson.  “He was battling his fast ball today, but had great success with his curve and our guys made the plays they needed to make in the field.”

Bryce Burrill (3-4, 2 RBI), Ian Stumbo (2-3, 2B, RBI) and Andrew Johnson (2-3) were the hitting leaders for the Otters.

Fergus Falls will host Sartell/St. Stephen in a Central Lakes Conference double header on Tuesday night.
