Fergus Falls High School and M State alum Chris Swenson won the NSIC individual Men’s Golf Championship last weekend in Kansas City, Missouri.  Swenson, golfing for Bemidji State University, claimed medalist honors as he finished at three-under-par with rounds of 72-69-69 for a 210 total.  He was two strokes ahead of Upper Iowa’s Logan Schweinefus who shot a 212.  Swenson became the sixteenth Beaver to earn NSIC Medalist honors, and the first since Mitch Mackedanz in 2008-09.

Winona State rallied in round three of the tournament to edge BSU by one stroke and win its second straight NSIC Men’s Golf Championship.  The Warriors finished with an 883 total and had three golfers finish in the top eleven.  Bemidji State ended the tournament with a team score of 884.

The NCAA Men's Golf Championships will be played May 17-21 at the PGA National Resort, The Champion Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.  Swenson will find out Friday night if he has been selected to play in the tournament or if his team has been chosen as one of the teams in the championship field.
