The Rothsay track and field team lost Noah Fiedler, a section contender in the 300 meter hurdles as a junior in 2019, to graduation in 2020.  The Tigers are very young, but they do have some good numbers coming up through the program.

“Our boys’ team is young and has a number of newcomers on it,” acknowledged head coach Trevor Hone, now in his tenth year.  “We have some individuals who could compete well despite their inexperience.  This year, after a year off due to COVID19, I think everyone will be a bit rusty and that will help some our new athletes break in.”

The Tigers will be led by senior Colby Larson (sprints, jumps) and junior Chris Carrillo (sprints, high jump).  Sophomore Logan Blumer (long distance), and freshmen Matthew Danielson (jumps, hurdles) and Jesse Blondeau (sprints, jumps) will also be solid competitors.

“The girls’ team is very young as we don’t have any girls in grades 9 through 12,” noted Coach Hone.  “Our seventh and eighth graders should be able to hold their own and have lots of potential to be very competitive down the road.  Our girls relay team should be able to compete well.”

Eighth-graders Brooklyn Weiers (long distance), Addison Fetterer (sprints, jumps) and Lisa Kjelgaard (sprints, jumps), and seventh-grader Mia Rivers (sprints), are all expected to step in and compete at the varsity level with Kjelgaard, Fetterer, Rivers and Chelsea Stowe making up a strong 4x100 relay team.
