With the loss of the 2020 golf season due to COVID19, Hayden Shol and Trey Soydara both lost out on their senior season with the Fergus Falls boys’ golf team.  The Otters, however, return a solid nucleus of varsity players and have a total of 33 kids on their team, the most ever for the program.

“We have a really young and talented group that love the game and love to compete,” stated fourth-year Head Coach Matt McGovern.  “Senior Chance Fazio will be our leader this year and everyone else has a real chance to contribute both on the varsity and junior varsity levels.”

Sophomore Charlie Fuder joins Fazio as a returning letter winner.  Other varsity prospects include sophomore Aidan Swenson, ninth-graders Davis Shol, Riley McGovern, Ryan Nelson, Gavin Goepferd and Sam Dirkman, and eighth-grader Adam Kennedy.

McGovern will be assisted by Travis Johnson and Trevor Larson (Middle School Coach).

“The top team in the Central Lakes Conference is Alexandria and in Section 8AA it’s Detroit Lakes,” added McGovern.  “With 33 kids out for the team the future of Otter Boys’ Golf in STRONG!”
