Jayna Gronewold scored a game high 29 points on Wednesday night in Austin, leading the M State lady Spartans to a 64-60 win over Riverland and securing the top seed in the MCAC Playoffs. M State will host the winner of Thursday’s game between the lady Blue Devils and Minnesota West on Saturday afternoon in Fergus Falls.
Abby Tysdal (14) and Emily Larson (12) joined Gronewold in double digits. Larson went 9-for-10 at the free throw line.
“Sabrina Fronning held Megan Shanahan to three buckets on the night which was huge,” reported M State Head Coach Jodi Holleman. “It got real physical at the end but the girls were composed and took care of the basketball and made free throws down the stretch. I’m super proud of all six of them!”
