New York Mills Boys' Basketball Season Ends with Loss to Mahnomen-Waubun

The season came to an end for the New York Mills boys’ basketball team on Wednesday night as they suffered a 75-72 loss to unbeaten, top-seeded Mahnomen-Waubun in the Section 6A semifinals.  The Eagles fell behind by as many as 14 points in the first half and trailed 45-36 at halftime, however, they battled back to take a six point lead with four minutes to go in the game, but could not hold it.

Tate Olson had another big night for the Eagles with 28 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists.  Breck Hensch added 10 points, 2 steals and 2 assists, Jonah Johnson contributed 8 points, 4 rebounds and 4 steals, and Noah Noffsinger finished with 7 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal.  Isaiah Laudenbach chipped in with 4 points, 3 steals and 2 assists, while Derin Gaudette had 3 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

“We’re disappointed in the loss, but extremely proud of how our boys competed,” commented New York Mills Head Coach Jason Boe.  “They’ve done that all year for us.”

New York Mills (17-3) saw their thirteen game winning streak come to an end with the loss.

Mahnomen-Waubun (21-0) will face Hancock for the Section 6A championship on Friday night.
