The Perham boys’ basketball team overcame a 21-19 halftime deficit and outscored Barnesville 36-19 in the second half as the Yellowjackets advanced to the Section 8AA championship game with a 55-40 win over the Trojans at ‘The Hive’ in Perham on Wednesday night.
Finn Diggins (14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals), Gabe Thompson (13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals) and Elijah Morris (11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists) were all in double digits for the home team. Micah Thompson and Soren Anderson contributed 8 points each with Thompson dishing out 3 assists.
Perham shot 49% (21-43) from the field, making 30.4% (7-23) of their 3-point attempts.
Barnesville made 37% (13-35) of their field goal attempts and only 3-of-11 (27.3%) 3’s.
Adam Tonsfeldt led the Trojans with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Tate Inniger finished with 9 points and Kaden Zenzen had 5 points and 9 rebounds.
Perham (16-5) will face Fergus Falls in Pelican Rapids at 7:00pm Friday to decide the Section 8AA title.
Barnesville ends their season with a record of 12 wins and 9 losses.
