Lady Knights Advance to Section Semifinals with Road Win Over Panthers

The West Central Area Lady Knights traveled to Parkers Prairie to take on the Panthers in the second round of the Section 6A playoffs on Friday night. The game started out back and forth. The lead changed 3 times in the first half and the score was 37 to 33. The second half Parkers Prairie came out and tied the score up at 40 and then the Knights went on an 11-2 run. From there the Knights slowly built a lead and the final was 67-51.

The Knights were led by Macy Grosz with 16 points, 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Mya Foslien had 15 points, 2 steals, 2 rebounds and an assist. Lexi Bright had 14 rebounds, 11 points, 8 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocks. Claire Stark had 9 rebounds, 8 points and a steal. Addison Staples had 6 points, a rebound and a steal. Brynn Fernholz had 5 points, a rebound and a steal. Brooke Anderson had 2 points, a rebound and a steal. Halle Foslien had 2 points and 2 rebounds. Sydney Ulrich had 2 points, an assist, a rebound and a block. Elizabeth Rustan had 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Chloe LaRue had 2 rebounds.

“Tonight was a product of a team rolling with the hot hand and still playing phenomenally hard on defense,” said Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer of the lady Knights. “This was one of the best team efforts of the season and it came at the right time. Parkers Prairie is a very strong team and we did what we needed to do to walk away with the win. I’m proud of how we played unselfishly and never let up.”

West Central Area (15-5) will play at Hancock (18-0) in the Section 6A semifinals on Tuesday at 7:00pm.
