The Underwood girls’ basketball team came from a nine point second half deficit on Friday night to defeat New York Mills 58-56 in a battle between a number 2 and number 3 seed in the Section 6A playoffs.

“What a game, we were tied 29-29 at half but came out extremely slow in the 2nd half,” reported Underwood Head Coach Brian Hovland. “Mills got on a roll and they took a 9 point lead midway through the half.  We definitely had a gut check moment and the girls responded.  We did a great job of limiting them in shots and keeping their shooters from getting easy looks.  I couldn't be prouder of our girls!”

Liz Lukken scored a team high 18 points for the Rockets.  She was joined in double digits by Josey Bugbee and Mo Bugbee with 14 and 13 points, respectively.  Brooke Hovland turned in a solid floor game with 5 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

Underwood (17-3) takes a 6 game winning streak into their Section 6A semifinal match at Henning (19-1) on Tuesday night.

New York Mills finishes the season with a 14-5 record.
