The Ashby Arrows defeated the Brandon-Evansville Chargers 46-22 in the quarterfinal round of subsection 6A on Thursday night.  At halftime the Arrows led 18-7.

“The Chargers played with great patience at the offensive end often times running a minute off the clock as they looked for the best possible shot,” said Ashby Head Coach John Holsten.

The Arrows landed three players in double figures.  Jacob Cook led all scorers with 16 points and dominated on the glass grabbing 13 boards.  Derrek Bartz came off the bench and provided a lift netting 11 points.  His three 3 point baskets were the only threes made in the game.  Jaden Norby added 10 using skillful post moves.

“Our guys were up to the challenge of guarding the disciplined offense employed by the Chargers,” added Holsten.  “The Arrows worked hard at making B-E shoot contested shots.  That said we were fortunate the Chargers missed shots that were good looks for them.”

The Chargers talented junior tandem of Tyler Bitzan and Titus Fuller scored 7 and 6 points, respectively. Dezmond White also scored 6.

"I thought we played good basketball," said B-E Head Coach Trent Hintermeister.  "We had a plan coming into the game to be specific with the shots we took in order to give us the best chance to win. We got good looks and they just didn't fall at a high enough percentage for us to win.  To hold a team like Ashby to 46 points is something to be proud of. Our guys worked hard all night and I'm really proud of them. I wish Ashby the best of luck moving forward. I'm so thankful for everything Kobe Reiland and Brian Lauthen have done for our boys basketball team over the last 4 years. They have been selfless and humble. They worked hard and set great examples for the younger players in our program. I know they are both going to go on to do great things in the future. They will be greatly missed by coaches, teammates, and fans."

Brandon-Evansville finishes with a final record of 7 wins and 13 losses.

The Arrows (19-0) advance to play West Central Area (14-4) Saturday night in Ashby at 7 o'clock.
