The Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres won the Section 5A Boys’ Swimming and Diving Meet on Saturday with a total of 562 points.  Alexandria was second with 456, followed by Bemidji (290), Melrose/Sauk Centre (288), Park Rapids Area (165), Fergus Falls (146), Perham/New York Mills (83), Detroit Lakes (65), Morris Area (65) and Thief River Falls (59).

“We had a great meet today with over 20 individual season best times,” commented Fergus Falls Head Coach Randy Hansen.  “I couldn't be prouder of the boys and the hard work they put in this season under strange circumstances.”

Fergus Falls senior Sean Edman qualified by state cut time for the Class A State Meet in the 200 freestyle and will compete next Saturday at the U of M.

“Sean swam a smart race and really pushed himself to an awesome time,” stated Coach Hansen.  “I was really happy for Ryan Aanerud and Christian Reed.  Even though they finished outside the top 8 medals, they had big time drops and finished the season on high note.  Our 400 free relay gave the best effort I have seen from them all year.  They had a real shot at 3rd place and a chance at state but came up just short.”
