The Henning boys’ basketball team trailed 36-35 at halftime, but held the Verndale Pirates to just 22 second half points as the Hornets recorded a 61-58 win on Senior Night.

Mason Hammer (20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocked shots) and Tanner Arndt (18 points, 6-7FG, 7 assists, 3 rebounds) led Henning.  Tyson Misegades (9 points, 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals), Joe Angell (6 points, 4 rebounds) and Calvin Stueve (5 points, 3 assists) also contributed.

Henning shot 50% (23-46) from the field and made 66% (8-12) of their 3-point attempts.

“We honored our two seniors tonight,” said Head Coach Randy Misegades of the Hornets. Joe Angell and Ethan Houselog have given many years to our program and been part of many great memories. They have been great leaders and role models and will be missed. We knew this would be another knock-down, drag-out battle and it proved to be exactly that. Brandon Greenwaldt had his way in the paint and scored 24 points for the Pirates. We competed better on the defensive end in the second half and found a way to win. We look forward to playing our final regular season game at Underwood tomorrow as we head into playoffs next week.”

The Hornets will take a 12-5 record into their Saturday afternoon game at Underwood.
