The Pelican Rapids boys’ basketball team overcame a 29-27 halftime deficit to defeat Thief River Falls by the score of 58-53 on Tuesday night.

“This was a pretty tight game throughout as neither team was able to get out to a lead of more than four or six points,” commented Pelican Rapids Head Coach John Gullingsrud. “A key stretch for us was in the second half when we were down 44-38 with nine minutes to go and we were able to go on a 16-2 run to open up an eight point lead with four minutes left in the game. We were struggling offensively up until that point and that run gave us the cushion we needed to hold off Thief River Falls tonight.”

Logan Fahje and McHale Korf led the Viking swith 21 and 19 points, respectively.

Brevyn Lingen had 17 to lead the Prowlers and Jack Manning finished with 15.

Pelican Rapids (7-6) will play DGF on Friday in Glyndon.
