The Ashby Arrows Boys Basketball Team extended its winning streak to 13 games defeating the Battle Lake Battlers 91-65 on Monday night.  It was the highest point total the Arrows have given up this season.  Ashby trailed the Battlers by one but closed out the half on a 31-12 run to lead 56-38.

The Arrows landed four players in double figures. Hunter Norby scored 26 with 21 coming in the first half.  Torin Olson scored 25, Jacob Cook added 15 points and Derrek Bartz contributed 11 off the bench.  Cook dished out 6 assists.  Jaden Norby secured 10 rebounds.  The Arrows shot 36% (8/22) from behind the three point line.

Derrek Bartz, Bobby Anderson, and Carson Spangler made solid plays off the bench during the Arrows first half scoring spurt.

"With the exception of some bad passes, missed free throws, and a few botched attempts at the rim, I thought that our offense looked pretty good tonight,” stated Battle Lake Head Coach Tyler Owen. “Drew Johnson continues to be a lights-out shooter for us, and Brady VanErp has done a nice job of being the glue guy who makes sure that we are taking care of business on that end of the floor. Ashby has some strong athletes, and we just didn't have anybody who could match up well with them. They surround those athletes with some good shooters, and that's a dangerous combination at any level of basketball, especially in class A. We proved for a stretch tonight that we can play with anyone when we're clicking, but we need to start taking care of business on the defensive end. We shouldn't be giving up 91 points to anyone, even if it's an undefeated Arrows team."

Drew Johnson led the Battlers in scoring for a second straight game with a team high 26 points, 18 of which came from behind the arc. Sophomore Owen Buehler made 4 3’s for 13 points and Brady VanErp contributed 10.

Ashby (13-0) will travel to Ortonville on Tuesday night.

Battle Lake (3-11) will play at Wheaton on Saturday afternoon.
