On Monday night the Lady Knights hosted the CGB Wolverines in a conference and section 6A matchup. The first half started out back and forth and the teams were tied up at 11. The Knights would make a quick basket and then begin to grow a lead into halftime. The score at halftime was 26-17 in favor of the Knights. The second half began and the Knights continued to expand the lead. It would grow to a 16 point advantage with 12 minutes to play, but from there forward the Wolverines took over. The Knights would salvage enough of the lead to walk away victorious by the score of 53-46.
Coach Eric Schoenbauer said, “CGB never gave up and applied defensive pressure along with offensive firepower to will themselves back into the game in the second half. They cut it all the way down to a three point deficit before having to foul to extend the game. Thankfully we hit enough free throws in the end to win the game.”
The Lady Knights were led by Brynn Fernholz with 18 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Lexi Bright had 12 points, 9 rebounds, 7 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocks. Claire Stark had 6 points and 5 rebounds. Sydney Ulrich scored 5 points and stole the ball 3 times. Elizabeth Rustan had 5 steals, 5 rebounds, 3 points and 2 assists. Halle Foslien had 3 points, 2 rebounds and an assist. Macy Grosz had 3 points and a steal. Chloe LaRue had 2 points and an assist. Brooke Anderson had 2 rebounds, a steal and a rebound. Addison Staples had 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Kaitlyn Hansen had a rebound and an assist. Kennedy Ulrich had a steal.
