Perham and Pequot Lakes both shot the ball extremely well in a high scoring boys’ high school basketball contest on Friday night in Perham. The Yellowjackets led 34-27 at the half, but the Patriots came storming back to tie the game at the end of regulation at 64-64. Perham won the overtime, 7-6, recording a thrilling 71-70 victory at ‘The Hive’.
Perham made 55% (27-49) of their field goal attempts and 50% (4-8) of their 3’s, while burying 13-of-15 free throws. They were led by a 32 point effort from Finn Diggins, who also had a team high 9 rebounds to go along with 2 steals and 2 assists. Elijah Morris had 17 points and led the team with 5 assists. Gabe Thompson was in double figures with 10.
Pequot Lakes got 34 points from standout Bode Magnuson and 15 from Eli Laposky. Sam Rysavy led the Patriots with 9 boards. The Patriots shot 50% (28-56) from the floor, hitting 43% (9-21) of their 3’s and 5-of-7 free throws.
Perham (11-2) ran their winning streak to 7 games. They will host Frazee on Tuesday night.
Pequot Lakes (10-2) lost for just the second time in 12 games. They will be home against Pierz on Thursday night and will host Grand Rapids next Friday.
