The Alexandria Cardinals never trailed in their 56-40 win over Fergus Falls in a Central Lakes Conference boys’ basketball contest on Thursday night in Alexandria.  The Cardinals built a 30-14 lead at halftime and had 36 of their 56 points come off the bench. Reserves hit 8 of the 9 made 3’s for the Cardinals.  Fergus Falls senior Dominic Aguilar had a game high 24 points as he reached 1000 career points in the second half.

Trailing 33-14 early in the second half the Otters went on an 11-2 run to cut the Alexandria lead to 35-25.  After a timeout the Cardinals re-established their momentum with ten straight points to increase their lead to twenty.  Alexandria held a 32-23 edge on the boards.

The Otters held the Alexandria duo of Colton Roderick and Kristen Hoskins to a combined six points, but junior Myles Sansted came off the bench to bury five 3’s and lead the Cardinals with 20 points.  Erik Hedstrom scored 12 points and pulled down 7 rebounds and Kobe Jenson contributed 10 points and 5 boards.
