The Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale/Parkers Prairie Raiders kept things moving forward last week with four convincing wins moving to 17-5 on the season.

It started on Tuesday with a home triangular against Barnesville and Wadena-Deer Creek.  Bennet Arceneau earned a quick fall against the Trojans with David Revering and Deagen Captain taking forfeits for the 18-0 lead.  Barnesville got on the board with a sudden victory decision at 126 before the Raiders responded with a decision for Blake Sumstad and Justin Koehn to add to forfeits for Reese Thompson, Jason Koehn, Brock Peterson, and Adrian Arellano.  The Trojans picked up a fall at 182 and BHVPP closed things out with falls from Tyler Eggert and Hayden Captain and a forfeit for James Grant to win 66-9.

The late show saw Arceneau with another first period fall and three consecutive forfeits for Revering, Deagen Captain, and Aiden Larson.  Sumstad picked up a major decision before the Wolverines won their lone match of the dual.  BHVPP steam rolled to the finish line with a decision from Justin Koehn, falls for Jason Koehn, Peterson, and Mason Schroeder, and forfeits for Arellano, Eggert, Grant, and Hayden Captain to take the dual 73-3.

Thursday evening Breckenridge and New York Mills visited for a triangular and the Raiders picked up where they left off.  Arceneau and Deagen Captain earned falls with Revering and Larson accepting forfeits for the 24-0 lead.  The Cowboys squeaked out 132 before handing forfeits to Thompson, Justin and Jason Koehn, and Schroeder to extend the lead to 48-3.  Peterson secured a pin and Eggert a forfeit to make it 60-3.  Gideon Ervasti made quick work and Melvin Blumer took home the final forfeit to round out the dual 72-9 after Breckenridge took the 220-pound weight class.

The finale saw BHVPP start out strong again.  Arceneau grabbed his fourth pin of the week with Revering his fourth freebie.  Deagen Captain and Thompson each took another forfeit and Larson grinded out the decision for the 27-0 lead out of the gate.  The Eagles cut into the deficit with back-to-back falls at 138 and 145.  Jason Koehn slowed the comeback with a decision and Peterson grabbed a forfeit.  New York Mills picked up another fall at 170.  The Raiders responded with a major decision for Eggert and three first period falls for Ervasti, Grant, and Hayden Captain to win 58-18.

It was another successful week as the Raiders allowed only 39 points in four duals losing only eight of the 56 matches.  They did exactly what they needed to do to handle the thin line-ups of their opponents.  This week will get tougher with three events on the docket and three ranked teams scheduled to toe the line.  A long trip to Fosston to battle #4AAA Bemidji and Fosston-Bagley on Tuesday.  Parents night will take place in Verndale on Thursday against Border West and Mahnomen-Waubon.  Then Saturday, a trip to Belgrade to take on #11AA Detroit Lakes and #2A Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa.  It should be another great week of wrestling.  #BHVPP #allforoneoneforall
