Thursday night the West Central Area Lady Knights traveled to Graceville to take on the Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley Wolverines. The first half was an old school defensive battle and at halftime the Knights led 18-11. The second half saw both teams settle into the game and put more points on the board. The Knights finished the game off with a 48-36 victory.
The Knights were led by Lexi Bright with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks. Liz Rustan had 10 points, 2 rebounds, 2 steals, 2 assists and a block. Claire Stark had 8 points, 6 rebounds, a steal and an assist. Brynn Fernholz had 6 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and an assist. Addison Staples had 5 rebounds, 4 points, 3 assists and a steal. Halle Foslien had 2 points, 2 rebounds and a steal. Kaitlyn Hansen had 2 points and a steal. Sydney Ulrich had 2 rebounds, an assist and a steal. Brooke Anderson had 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Kennedy Urlich had 3 rebounds and an assist. Chloe LaRue had 2 rebounds tonight. Macy Grosz contributed solid minutes although not hitting the stat sheet.
“The defensive effort was a huge plus tonight and not giving up on plays helped make it that way. It is crazy to think we are going to turn around and play CGB on Monday night,” said WCA Head Coach Eric Schoenbauer stated.
