The Fergus Falls girls’ basketball team completed a season sweep of the Brainerd Warriors on Tuesday night, recording a 58-42 Central Lakes Conference win in Brainerd.  The Otters scored the first 17 points of the game and jumped to a 29-1 lead on the way to a 33-12 halftime advantage.  Brainerd didn’t make their first field goal until the 4:40 mark of the half and only made a total of three shots in the first half.

“Unbelievable start tonight for the Otters,” said Head Coach Brad Strand.  “The girls were focused and set the tone with great defense, which led to efficient offense.  We saw a lot more effort and energy from everyone on the floor tonight.  It was a well-played game by the Otters.  We are looking forward to a big game with Crookston on Friday night in the Gold Gym.”

Ellie Colbeck had a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds.  She also dished out 7 assists.  Tori Ratz nailed four 3’s and made all four of her free throws on the way to a 16 point night.  She also collected 7 rebounds and distributed 4 assists.  Logan Strom and Anna Anderson contributed 7 and 6 points, respectively.

The Otters had a 40-25 advantage on the boards and made 10-of-10 free throws.  Fergus Falls hit 36% (26-72) of their shots and made 6-of-19 from 3-point range.

Kate Stadum led Brainerd with 12 points, all coming in the second half.

The Otter JV team won 50-44 with Karley Braeger scoring 16 points.  The ninth graders won their first game of the season, winning 36-16.

Fergus Falls is now 5-3 (4-2 CLC).
