Colbeck Pours in 26 to Lead Otters Past Lakers

Ellie Colbeck got the Otters off to a fast start on Saturday afternoon as she scored 19 of her game high 26 points in the first half leading Fergus Falls to a 48-25 halftime lead over Detroit Lakes.  The Otters increased their lead to 34 points late in the game and finished with a 72-54 win over the Lakers.  Colbeck added 4 assists and 4 steals.

The Otters had 21 points from their reserves in the game, led by an 11 point effort by Ainsley Hansen, who also had 5 rebounds.  Anna Anderson contributed 7 points and 4 assists, Hannah Polejewski had 7 points and 5 rebounds, Paige Pearson scored 9 points and 5 rebounds and Emily Nuss snared 6 rebounds.  The Otters won the battle of the boards, 33-22.

“Great to get our offense clicking with 48 first half points,” said Fergus Falls Head Coach Brad Strand.  “it is always nice to get lots of girls opportunities to see the floor today.”

Detroit Lakes had three players finish in double figures, led by 11 from Alex BettcherJaycee Hauser and Abby Larson each had 10 points for DL.  The Lakers hit six 3’s and made 12-of-18 free throws.

Fergus Falls (4-3) will travel to Brainerd on Tuesday night and will host Crookston on Friday.

Detroit Lakes, coached by former Otter Rachel Johnson, is now 4-3 on the year.  They will play at Moorhead on Tuesday.

The Otters won the JV game 52-30.  They were led by Cyntreya Lockett with 17 points.  Karysa Eberle had 12 and Ellia Soydara finished with 10 points.  The JV team improved to 4-3 with the win.

The ninth grade game was won by DL, 46-22.  Megan Meech had 5 points to lead Fergus Falls.
