Eleventh Ranked Perham Girls Win Battle of the Bees in Frazee

The 11th ranked Perham girls basketball team used a late second half run and held off the Frazee Hornets 52-48 for its second win of the young season on Thursday, January 21 in Frazee.

With the teams tied at 32, Grayce Mickelson stole the ball and drove for a layup, which sparked a 7-0 run. Katie Johnson followed with a 3-pointer and Stella Raser hit inside for a basket, helping Perham to the slim road victory over Frazee.

The Yellowjackets had three players finish in double figures. Johnson led the way with 16 points and hit four 3-pointers. Sydney Anderson added 15 points and sank three triples in the game. Raser added 11 points in paint and grabbed nine rebounds for Perham in the road win.

Annika Reierson paced the Hornets with a game high of 22 points. Dani Piche added eight points for the Hornets in the loss.

The Yellowjackets’ used a late surge to pull out the win, despite being outscored 29-25 in the second half. Perham outscored the Hornets 27-19 in the first half.  Perham sits at 2-0 with the victory.
